Lightwood Farm, Cheshire East

Emery Planning has successfully won an appeal against the refusal of planning permission for an agricultural building in Somerford, Cheshire. The site lies within the open countryside. The council did not raise concerns over the need for the building, its design or size but refused planning permission on the basis that the building would be sited in an isolated location, it would be prominent and would have an adverse impact on the landscape and open character of the area. However, the Inspector did not agree stating that the location would in fact prevent the building from significantly impacting on the long, open views across the rest of the agricultural unit and its location would minimise its impact on the rural environment.
