Land at Shaw Lane, Hadfield – High Peak Borough Council

Emery Planning secured planning permission on appeal for 9 dwellings at Shaw Lane, Hadfield, High Peak in December 2018.

There were a number of site constraints including protected trees; challenging site levels; relationships with existing and approved housing; and the need to provide a buffer to either side of a watercourse that runs through the site.

In his consideration of the scheme, with regard to character and appearance the Planning Inspector stated: “The appellant has sought to design the site layout of the proposed dwellings in order to minimise any impacts on adjacent dwellings and the locality and has taken a design inspiration from some of the older style properties in the area. I recognise there is some variation in housing styles and materials in the area and the use of quality materials, fenestration, landscaping and boundary treatment would assist with integrating the proposal with the area.”
