Purpose of this Consultation
An outline planning application for the development of land between Braintree Road and Long Green, Braintree was submitted to Braintree District Council in 2018 (LPA ref: 18/00549/OUT).
The planning application relates to proposals by Begin Braintree Ltd for the erection of up to 250 dwellings with associated works (access details only). The application was refused planning permission on 5 December 2019. Begin Braintree Ltd has submitted an appeal against that decision. The appeal will be determined by an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State.
A public inquiry into the appeal will be held and is scheduled to open on 17 November 2020 and to run for 6 days. The appeal reference is APP/Z1510/W/20/3253661.
The planning application was supported by two detailed access drawings showing two new roundabout junctions off Long Green and Braintree Road, and a new ‘spine road’ through the site connecting these two new junctions. These two access drawings have since been superseded by a new access drawing, and it is the intention of Begin Braintree Ltd to submit this drawing to the Planning Inspectorate as part of the appeal proposal. We would ask you to note that the access plan now subject to this consultation reflects the highway arrangement shown in the indicative plans that were determined by the Council. The following table clarifies which plans would be revised:As the application is now subject to an appeal and will be determined by an Inspector on behalf of the Secretary of State, it is necessary to ensure all parties have the opportunity to comment on the revised alternative access plan. A copy of this drawing is provided on this webpage.
