Wrea Green – Fylde Borough Council

Emery Planning are delighted to have secured planning permission at Blackburns Farm, Wrea Green for a Remembrance Wood, Café and Wildlife Education Centre.

The project on 34 hectares of land in the open countryside and partially within the Area of Separation between Wrea Green and Kirkham will provide an education centre building and coffee shop, nature walks, wild flower meadows, 6 Great Crested Newt ponds, 6 bird hides and remembrance wood.

As well as providing education space for local school, colleges and interest groups it will also support the Governments Green Social Prescribing Programme utilising volunteering to aid people’s mental and physical health, and address the inequality of access to green space.

This will be the first farm in the UK, and business in Fylde to be awarded The Wildlife Trusts’ Biodiversity Benchmark, delivering social and environmental benefits through wildlife conservation, volunteering and education.

The project is working in partnership with/supported by a raft of organisations including, Lancashire Wildlife Trust; Royal Horticultural society; North West in Bloom; Ribble Trust; Natural England; Environment Agency; Fylde Bird Club; Lancashire County Council; Myerscough College: National Farmer Union and various NHS practices.

What our client says…

“I have dealt with Helen as an Emery planning consultant for around 9 years. I would guesstimate Helen has represented me on at least 8 jobs, 3 involving applications of over 125 housing units. Each application has had issues, I use the term issue lightly, issues way beyond what I could deal with myself, issues that started off as a puzzle and turned into a conundrum. The latest project involving two huge buildings on land that was designated “Area of Separation” was not easy. I now have a café, education centre, polytunnel and an agricultural building. When this was first mentioned to the planners we received a forty point list of why it had no chance of happening. What I have received in the past 9 years is exceptional and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing what you do.”
